Dress Code

On the first, second and third floors, including the Virginia Room, Georgian Room, Ballroom, Madison Room, Washington Room, Jefferson Room, Stuart Room, Jackson Room, Porch, Dining Room, and Commonwealth Room, as well as all common areas of those floors except the first floor Blue Bar area, coat and tie are required for gentlemen, and comparable attire for ladies.

In the first floor Blue Bar area, including the bar, the solarium, and the “Crater Room”, club casual attire is permitted. Club casual attire for this area includes a jacket, collared shirt, and dress slacks. The dress code may be modified for special events that incorporate the patio and the bar.

In the basement, including the Men’s Grill, club casual attire is permitted. A jacket is required at lunch in the Men’s Grill in the cooler months, from Labor Day through Memorial Day. In the warmer months, from Memorial Day through Labor Day, no jacket is required. As has been our custom for many years, hunters dressed in their hunting clothes may use the Grill when going to and coming from their hunts.

Unacceptable attire anywhere in the Club, except the athletic facility, includes jeans, shorts and flip-flops. It isn’t necessary to adhere to the dress code to enter or depart the athletic facility.
